2010 Marathon Mile

The Chevron Houston Marathon and Aramco Half Marathon are only 10 days away and several hashers will be running both the half and full marathon this year, along with roughly 25,000 other people. The Houston Hash Marathon Mile is always the funnest place to be on marathon day whether you’re a runner stopping for a beer break or a hasher fulling the cups.

This year’s theme is “Gone Fishin’.” There will be at least three boats at the mile, and everybody else should bring out their fishin’ poles, lures, waders, favorite hat, stringers, nets, plastic fish, etc. There are also a few hardy hashers who camp at the mile the night before. After the jump, an incomplete list of the hashers running this year.

Hash marathoning tips from the pros

  • Don’t try to drink a whole beer at the mile
  • DON’T spend all weekend walking around the Expo.
  • Start drinking water on Thursday.
  • Avoid eating a massive white pasta dinner on Saturday unless you do it before every long run. (Might make for pit stops-ugh.)
  • Don’t try something new. You will likely be sad.
  • Don’t eat any breakfast burritos before the marathon.
  • While you know not to party hard the night before, that goes for AT LEAST TWO nights before as well…watch yourself at Friday happy hour!

As always, thanks to A**grabber, Marathon Mile coordinator this year, WHP, WowMomWow and Harry Palms for their hard work. Don’t forget about the marathon after-party at Brewery Tap after the run, and the regular (slightly easier) Sunday hash at 3 p.m. Marathon Day.
