H4 Run #1719 – The Post Marathon Mile Run

Date: Saturday January 30, 2011
Hares: Powertool
Quote of the Run: “Racists!”

Powertool had a great fun run with a surprise ending at….Allen’s landing! No one saw that coming! It was something, unfortunately, which I missed due to death by marathon. Thank to Powertool for stepping up and helping with everything on this, the most tiring of days.

This Hash Trash was perfectly written by WowMomWow as a thank you for the Marathon Volunteers:

This time around you guys really stepped up to support a 2-day event, and helped in a very challenging year. In trying to recognize all the standouts, I know I will miss someone… but I must give it a try. So in somewhat of a chronological order….

ON SATURDAY:

– Scud & Greenass and all their downtown crew (Geek, Choo-Choo, Rain B*tch, Fumduck, Puke, Tiny Bubbles, Gaslight & Grind) made the very complex downtown area seem easy.
– Stop N Blow for organizing a LARGE group of bicyclists to road guard on Allen Parkway. Some of her volunteers included Roller Balls, Sperminator, Sticky Lips,Turtle Brains, A*swipe, Heartache, Brrrrgh, Smelly Trench, McPisser, Cums Anyway… and I know I am forgetting some of you so please forgive me.
– Platterpuss & Circle Jerk for organizing the H4 foot patrol, which included Roll Model, Pound Puppy, Roadkill, Spin Cycle, Pull the Plug, Dickrectionally Challenged, CIA, and others that my fuzzy brain cannot pull up. I would like a complete list of those that showed up, so if I missed you please email me.
– Muscle Phart for spearheading the Shepherd turn.
– Smooth Stroker for bringing out her sexy roller girls to road guard! (SS, can I have all these ladies’ names? They were great!)
– Tunneler, who joined in his wife’s Montrose turnaround crew. Ha brought out a large number of her Dragon Boat team to coordinate the turnaround for us.
– The lunch setup crew; Heartache for bringing out his grills & heating up the meat, and Circle Jerk, Digital Input, Spin Cycle, & others for setting up, serving & cleaning up.

ON SUNDAY:

– Once again Scud & Greenass and all their start corridor crew. (I do not know which of you were on his Sunday crew, but thank you all for another flawless start!)
– Pipes & Two Screws for captaining mile 20, the start of The Wall.
– Little Pussy for setting out all the mile markers for THE WALL
– Muscle Phart for helping the little Jewish ladies across the street on Mile 23… they planned a ceremony at exactly the height of Marathon runner traffic… Yikes!
– Will-He-Peter & Digital for reaching out to other groups to populate our entire mile. Fleet Feet, Mattress Firm, Buffalo Bayou Partnership and friends, Houston School for the Visual & Performing Arts…and others. Runners need all the positive cheering they can get in this area, and there is room for more!

– NOT TO MENTION THE FABULOUS HASH MILE! And, of course, our stellar mile captains at mile 24, Circle Jerk, Digital Input, Will-He-Peter (in absentia), and A*sGrabber. The theme setup was without comparison! AG spent days in construction of a very unique (and sturdy!) movie-set-like Cowboys and Indians village. It was much photographed, and received lots of press (links are in earlier emails by MasterChugger & Snatcha.) Also, AG thanks for bringing the cooking setup and feeding scores of hungry Hashers. CJ & Digital kept the various teams organized and on point, i.e. professional cat herders. Can’t thank you two enough… you girls rock! Hairy Bellyfonte organized the road guards (Pound Puppy walked all day long!) and HB brought out the bicycle team that was so invaluable in spotting runners with medical issues, and keeping unauthorized traffic off the course. Cleanup crew headed up by Gladiator & TuHoles pitched in to clean up all over mile 24, not just the Hash Mile area. Pull the Plug quietly transported tons of set up items, pulling trailers, and loading and unloading (don’t think he ever sat down!) Dick the Boy Wonder for bringing items to add to the entertainment. Of course, the beer serving team and hoopla that makes the day for so many tired runners, headed by Unladen Swallows & Spin Cycle. And Spin, the bridge was the decorated better than ever! Grind brought out a keg of “elite fluids”. And thanks to everyone that helped clean up… it was a big job to get the encampment “decamped”.  Thanks to Power Tool for haring the run after the Brewery Tap party. And thanks to all of you in the circle for welcoming the Course Director (Totem Scrotem) and Race Director (Maxi Pad).

Going back to sleep now,
WoWMoMWoW

Thanks everyone for another successful Marathon Mile weekend!
