Hares: Will He Peter, Letch, Old Faithful
After confusion about the day of the run and the directions to the start, several dozen hashers arrived at the Hermann Park Garden Center to reunite with a number of hashers not seen in some time. Among the reboots present were Geriatric Rockstar, Call Girl and Letch.
It was announced beforehand that the hound who brought the most reboots would be rewarded with a surprise. All of the hounds got a surprise though while waiting for the run to begin. The overcast sky gave way to a light sprinkle that made what would have been a hot August run much more pleasant.
You’ll have to forgive your scribe for she was feeling quite ill during this run and neglected to remember many details. I can say from the start we headed north into the western half of the Museum District before looping back south again and running through the park. We passed by Sam Houston, solved a difficult check amidst the construction outside the main entrance to the zoo, and circled the park counter-clockwise, ending up at the pavilion where a nice spread of food was ready for us.
As the hares circled up and counted the reboots they brought it was determined that Will He Peter himself was the winner of his own 6-pack of fancy beer. Several hashers cried foul but Peter appeased them by sharing his tasty brew. I’m sure there were funny accusations but by this point I was questioning the sanity of running a hot summer hash after spending the previous two weeks laid up with the crud.
So I procured one of the afore-mention fancy beers and made my way home, happy to have seen some long-lost faces.
