Join us at the Marathon Mile

After careful and aggressive negotiating your Marathon Mile captain, Pipes, has secured for the hash four kegs of beer and a band to help us cheer on the runners of the Houston Marathon and Half Marathon on Sunday. We could also have a radio station there with us.

Our theme this year is construction. It looks like it will be a great day for running and supporting, so get your overalls on, pick up your tool belt and meet at the hash mile to support your fellow hashers and all the other runners competing in the Houston Marathon. Read on for more info about the Marathon Mile, and a list of hashers who are running the half and the full.

For some background on the Marathon Mile, as well as directions to the location, look here. Be there before 7:30 a.m. if you can, to see the half-marathoners come through. It also looks like we might have record broken in the full marathon due to a couple of Beijing marathoners competing. For those who can get there early and help set up balloons and banners, meet at the Starbucks on 5535 Memorial Drive at 6 a.m. for coffee and breakfast. Pipes will have supporter shirts to give away to those who turn up and help.

After the marathon there will be a short and easy hash hared by Powertool and Will He Peter, for those who didn’t get enough runnin’ in.

The after party is at the Brewery Tap, with a keg of St. Arnolds tapped at 1:30 p.m., pizza at 2:30 p.m., and great door prizes. The hash trail will start from there. H4 is getting a reputation with the Marathon Head Office for having a good time for all, so I some marathon officials may show up at the end of the trail for a cold one, as they did in 2008.
