Hare: Powertool
The dead heat of summer has hashers cranky. Please start the hash later! Please provide cold water. No street runs. Have a pool ending.
Powertool took all this into consideration, promising a short, shady trail in the near northwest side of town, but the hounds were still less-than-satisfied at the outcome of trail.
The pack gathered at a parking lot outside Cinemark Theater in Cypress. Hare offered the novel idea of “hash and a movie” — run the hash then cool off after the circle in a dark, AC-heavy theater.
Unfortunately, most hounds were so pooped by the end of trail that few made use of the theme. Also, the hare did not offer to pay for the movie, and no one likes to go dutch on the first date.
Trail started to the north, through the parking lot, the n crossing under 290 and almost immediately headed south for a long straight pass along hot railroad tracks. Towards the end of the pass trail went by a shooting range, which was a bit unnerving.
Pack crossed under 290 again (I think) and finally found some shade following what appeared to be bike trails, making a big loop northward and ending in a grassy avenue only half-covered by trees.
The second half of trail was actually quite nice and shady, tree-lined. Here is was possible to run without suffocating.
By the time your scribe arrived almost all the shady places were taken. Apologies to the hare since I can’t remember much of trail. I only remember being exhausted. Thankfully, there was plenty of water at the end, as well as beer.
The hare was made to drink for his crimes, Momma’s Boy was given a down-down for his shiny new ON-ON tattoo, and the on on on was announced as being a chicken shack of sorts in the shopping center at the start. As far as I know, no one made it to the movies. Ah well, it was a good idea in theory.
Faithfully submitted and ON-ON,
