2010 Marathon Mile

The Chevron Houston Marathon and Aramco Half Marathon are only 10 days away and several hashers will be running both the half and full marathon this year, along with roughly 25,000 other people. The Houston Hash Marathon Mile is always the funnest place to be on marathon day whether you’re a runner stopping for a beer break or a hasher fulling the cups.

This year’s theme is “Gone Fishin’.” There will be at least three boats at the mile, and everybody else should bring out their fishin’ poles, lures, waders, favorite hat, stringers, nets, plastic fish, etc. There are also a few hardy hashers who camp at the mile the night before. The Beer Mile cometh

The Beer Mile will be held in Memorial Park at 5 p.m. on July 18th.

The race is run on a 1/4 mile track in Memorial Track. On the track, we set up a 20 foot drinking zone as the starting line. The goal. Drink 4 beers and run 4 laps. At the go sign, you open and drink a can of beer. When you finish the beer you drop it next to the judges (to make sure that it is empty) and then you run a lap. When you finish the lap and return to the zone, you are handed the next beer. Repeat until you’ve done a mile. It’s fun.
