Converging on the long Memorial Day weekend, your hares Ass Swipe and Loofah threw down a mix of urban and medium-light shiggy in the blistering, almost summer heat. The pack met along 290, and could sense that they were in for a treat as the start offered little to no shade. Manstration already sported a splotchy ginger kid burn, and was promised more of the same.

So PP and Saltwater Taffey and Holden laid trail, about an hour of so of 4.24 miles. Hashers included visitor MIA (from DFW and LA and Orange County hashes), Brian (new boot), Horsefli Drive Bi, Estrus, Eddie, FMR, Heartache, Hooter Bill, Butt Pirate and 3 kids (and wife standing by). I was off playing Land Rovers in College Station and got to the start of the run slightly late. At 4:45 p.m., I called LP from the start, advising I was getting ready to run the trail solo. No maps on the cars, so no clue which direction the end was. But a manly arrow pointed towards the front door of the elementery school…… A good start! Continue reading
Hares: Wad to Blow and Who the F*ck Are You

The shameless plugging of Wad to Blow and Who The Fuck Are You seemed to work. Numerous hounds showed up for what was an hour and a half drive for some people (Santa Claus). The excitement that these two were now officially back to hashing after having sweet little Larkin made everyone happy. Plus the promise of a NEW, GREAT LOCAL BREW made us all come running too!
Start was at Hwy. 1488 just off I-45 at 2:45. WTFAY wasted no time in getting us on trail, as you will learn later, and gave a brief chalk talk. Off we went behind the Dosey Doe Café into a field. Some of us shortcutted and headed towards the water tower and caught up to the pack at a check that took a while to figure out. Behind some apartments (outside the fence this time…so no crazy rent-a-cops on bikes came after us) we ran and onto a trail that led behind numerous houses. We finally headed off the trail a ways down and great googly moogly, the shiggy had arrived! Continue reading
