H4 Christmas in Vegas Pub Crawl

Hared by Platterpuss

The 80% chance of rain was not going to stop our yule tide cheer!  Hounds met 7pm at the smokey little Brewery Tap, located in one of the oldest buildings in Houston.  The selection of beer was fabulous, but the smoke was a bit offensive.  The hare waited the acceptable amount of time and until a good crowd was gathering, then he started his trail of chalk to the next location.

The pack was off, and happily the rain had not yet started on this cold night.  A couple of blocks away, we followed chalk to La Carafe Wine Bar, a haunted building in the Old Market Square of downtown Houston, which I saw featured on Great Day Houston in October.  The groovy bartender was overwhelmed by our crowd of hashers.  Although La Carafe is a wine bar, they had a decent selection of bottled beers and some draft beers.  What seemed like just a moment, the pack was off again to establishment number three.

Not far away, the hounds followed chalk arrows to Warren’s Inn.  Actually, there was a drink/food-drink split.  Some hounds opted for the food-drink option, but I don’t remember where they went… next door to Warren’s.  We opted for drink!  The crowd was live and festive.  Beer selection was minimal for a beer snob, but they had more hard liquor than you could shake a stick at.  Warren’s was a fun place to catch up with friends and enjoy great conversation. I believe this is where we lost the snowman on trail, aka Trivestite.

Most of the pack met up again after the drink/food-drink split at the next bar on trail, Molly’s Pub on Main, which of course has a beautiful selection of beers, including St. Arnold’s Christmas Ale.  Mmmmmm!  Things were beginning to get fuzzy for this scribe, so on-on to the final bar.

THE FLYING SAUCER!!!  Where else would we end on a downtown pub crawl hared by Platterpuss!?!  I don’t remember a lot of our trip to the Saucer, except that I indulged in my new favorite seasonal beer, Live Oak Primus.  I DO remember Boy George on skates, Roll Model hitting the deck, taking Boy George with her… and BG humping her leg while on the floor.  BM2 and I left shortly after that low moment, walking several blocks in 4 inch platform open-toes in the freezing rain to our car by the Brewery Tap.  We met a wandering Horsefli Driveby on Franklin, who was hella lost.  BM2 pointed him in the right direction, and we took it to the house.

Thanks, Platterpuss, for a fabulous evening and eclectic selection of drinkeries!  It was the perfect lead in to a Christmas in Vegas weekend!  Can’t wait until your next pub crawl… hopefully very soon!

Merry Hashing!
Really? F*ck!
